I have come to the realization that I have reached the age or mental state of the entering a room with thought in mind syndrome only to find the thought took a turn and went elsewhere...fortunately it wasn't a life or death issue... Sept 24, 2016... – thinking about life

About This Quote

When you enter a room, you are expecting to find certain things. You might expect to find the person you are looking for, or maybe even the perfect spot to sit down and relax. However, sometimes you instead find something completely different. You find the object of your search in another place entirely.

It is hard to believe that something like this could happen, but it is true. The reason why this happens is because of how your mind works. When you enter a room, your mind takes note of everything that’s there.

It then compares what it sees to what it previously saw in that same room or at that same location. This allows your brain to make assumptions about the current location based on what you saw before. When you find yourself in an unexpected space, your mind has no idea where it is supposed to go next, so it makes an assumption based on what it knows.

If it has never seen this particular spot before, then it assumes that something must be wrong or out of place.
